Tbh I’m not very satisfied with the ending (yk where Christine finally accepts Jeremy asking her out), because it just felt so… cheap, to say the least. Like, after a bunch of rejections, Christine Js gave in and said yes… idk if anyone else agrees, but imo what would’ve been better is if we used Christine’s rejection as character development for Jeremy. Jeremy learns to accept that Christine won’t fall for him that way and they become best friends instead once Jeremy finally gets over the rejection. I feel like that would be a better ending to the musical(idk abt the book haven’t read it yet).

Okay yall, so this is the smallest thing to be excited about but it's just a little detail I noticed and I feel so proud of it y'all so I'mma share it anyway.

Okay so have you ever noticed that in the end of each of her songs Christine doesn't rhyme the last word? Like in ILPR Jeremy was gonna try and finish her sentence but she cuts him off with a word that doesn't sounds like it belongs there.

It sounds like she's gonna say "now" to rhyme it with soon but she doesn't! It's the same thing with A Guy That I'd Kinda Be Into.

Once again, it sounds like she's gonna say you, but she says Jake. This is the most obvious instance I think because it kinda plays along with the song because she kinda accidentally leads him on and drops that bomb on him.

However there is one instance that she does actually rhyme, can you guess when that is? It's when she's Squiped in The Play!

See! There it rhymes. The only time that her line rhymes is when her brain is being controlled. Now I have two theories as to why this could be.

Theory #1: It was just a clever way for Joe to show that the Squip was controlling her. Jeremy knew by now that she doesn't ever rhyme her music, after getting faked out twice before, so when she actually rhymed the song he could tell that it wasn't her. Just a clever cover job to try and make him forget about deactivating the squip. Hence the "THATS NOT CHRISTINE!"

Theory #2: This one was interesting, and it mostly stemmed from me wondering why Christine doesn't rhyme her songs in the first place. And I was thinking throughout the storyline Christine always has conflicting feelings. She's scared of exploring love but she really likes Jake. She wants to help people but at the same time she doesn't know how. And as much as she wants to explore life she doesn't want the difficulties that come with it, she prefers life to be scripted and easy. And maybe I'm grasping at straws and this a total reach, but maybe her not rhyming the end of her thought is a sign that shows her confliction. As someone with ADHD I know that a lot of times our minds work against us, and our brains are constantly battling each other. It's a constant civil war.

So MAYBE just maybe the reason that she set up the to to rhyme with you is because deep down she felt a teensy bit of a connection with Jeremy, which isn't entirely far fetched. She often found herself spilling to Jeremy about stuff, she felt comfortable around him, it's not that hard to imagine that deep down there were a couple budding feelings. Especially since she didn't quite seem to understand them herself. But the attraction she had to Jake was more obvious so she finished the line with Jake.

I think perhaps the Squip was simply able to pick apart her lines of thought enough to see that deep down there were budding feelings for Jeremy and straighten out her scrambled and confused brain so that she could finally finish a thought. He took away the conflict of interest, for his own personal gain yes, and this could also explain why Christine was so eager to accept his date when he asked her so soon after the Squip incident. Chances are the feelings were already there if she was so willing to give him a chance even after everything that happened. Maybe the line was Christine, just a less confused version of her?

“IT’S UP!!!” Christine’s screech fills the camp, everyone who wasn’t already awake groans as her high pitched squeals pierce into their dreams and startle them back into the real world.

Abi, who had been resting on the porch of her cabin with a book looks up excitedly and quickly dashes over to where Christine was seeing the cast list scribbled in purple pen stapled sloppily on the rest room cabin. Abi is about to peek at it but Christine stops her in her tracks. “WE NEED EVERYONE ELSE FIRST!”

Abi groans impatiently but nods. “I’ll get the boys you get the girls.” Her shorter friend nods in agreement and dashes to the girls cabin to get their fellow ladies awake. Abi practically kicks the boys cabin open “RISE AND SHINE LADIES!”

Collective groans fill the boys cabin as the light shines on their faces. Abi rips the pillow out from under Rich’s head, who unfortunately for him was on the bottom bunk closest to her, making him the easiest victim, and she wacks him in the face with it. He whines. “Abi!”

“The cast list is up getting off your lazy butts and figure out your parts gentlemen!” She explains tossing the pillow at his face and he sits up begrudgingly.

Michael leans his head over the top bunk “Do we have to?” To which Abi responds with grabbing RIch’s pillow and smacking him with it as well, answering the question quite affectively. Wanting to save themselves the wrath of the girl, Jake and Jeremy quickly climb out of their bunk on the other end of the cabin. Michael and Rich quickly following suit.

“That’s more like it. Hurry up ladies, I’m sure the girls already beat you to it!” Sure enough Abigail was right as the ladies were already gathered around the set list. Abigail calls to her friends frantically “Wait for us!!!”

The boys dash down to the list and quickly read it, Christine jumping up and down excitedly “ABI YOU GOT THE PART!”

Abi stares at her in shock. “Me?!” She had been so prepared for Zoe to have been given to Christine. She had always been Mr. Reyes favorite, and got the lead role everytime. She checked the list and sure enough, her name was next to Zoe’s and Christine’s was next to Cynthia’s.

Christine giggles in excitement, nothing but proud of her friend. “Yep!” Abi excitedly scans the rest of the list, unlike an average cast list Mr. Reyes was unorganized and didn’t write their names in order of their importance to the story, main character to side character, to extra, but rather he wrote them in the order in which he thought of them. Causing the list to look more like this:

Abi froze when she saw Rich’s name. She thought for sure if anyone was going to be Evan it would be Michael or Jake. Michael had the most raw talent, and Jake was the most popular so Mr. Reyes could use him for attention. Either way the thought that it was Rich caused her head to spin. She glanced over at him as he was still standing on his toes to read the list, it had been placed just high enough for him to struggle to read it.

She runs a finger through her hair. Was she ready for this? Sure she’d been friendly with him recently and she almost missed his friendship, but to play a romance, even if it was just for show, was she ready to reenter that territory?

Michael didn’t show it but he was disappointed too. He had auditioned for Evan, already having utmost confidence in Abigail to get the part of Zoe. He thought for sure he would get it, but to get cast as her father of all things? It was a tad disappointing to say the least.

Rich wasn’t sure how to feel. He didn’t want to admit it but a part of him was overjoyed. Maybe this could be the tipping point, he could remind Abi of the chemistry they used to have and maybe she’d remember the feelings she once had for him. On the hand the more rational side of him was nervous. What if she hated this idea? What if she hated it so much she quit the entire summer camp?

The two share a glance briefly, both of their mixed feelings easily read by themselves and their friends around them. As the oblivious ones, Chloe, Brooke, and Jenna chatter away in excitement, content with their roles (especially Chloe who is determined to take her job as “assistant stage manager” very seriously, as an excuse to boss people around.) Abi slowly backs toward her cabin to try and sort out great emotions. She wants to be happy, she finally got the lead role, but there’s so many emotions battling each other everything just feels so loud.

Christine rushes to follow her and help her but she’ her path is cut off by Rich. He can’t just sit around anymore, this is all too complicated he needs to know how she feels. Christine grabs his hand and stops him. “Don’t! Nothing good will come from it, just give her space.”

Rich gives her a look and shakes her hands off. Michael walks over standing in front of him “Dude, leave her alone.” Rich glares at him.

“This is none of your business man. So chill. She’s not your girlfriend.” Rich snaps.

Michael is shocked, not expecting the jab, and while his face remains shocked his fists clenched ever so slightly. Rich knows that if Michael had been a confrontational person he’d have paid for that comment. But Michael was a sweet guy and the way Rich saw it it was deserved. He had no right to have any say in his relationship with Abi.

The two held eye contact for what felt like a century to their helpless onlooking friends. It was as if they were having an entire conversation through their eyes. Reading every thought in each others heads. Eventually, just as Jake and Jeremy were about to drag them away from each other, tired of the tension, Michael steps aside, much to the shock of everyone there, especially Rich.

Christine gives Michael a dirty look, her only concern being her best friend not Rich. But Michael ignores it. His empathy got the better of him. He could see the sight bit of hurt in Rich, it had been buried under the frusteration at first but as Michael looked he could see the pain he was trying to hide.

The more he examined him as he walked over to where Abi had fled the more he almost pitied him. Even after what he put her through, he didn’t exactly have an easy year either. He deserved at the very least to know where he stands, he’d regret it if he didn’t get a chance to speak his mind. Michael knew that much. How it would turn out though was up to Abi.

“Jessie’s got himself a girl and I wanna make her mine.” ~ Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield

It had been a few weeks since the party, school was out and Mr. Reyes’ theater camp was in. Christine was thrilled, Abigail was… well? She loved theater, but this was Mr. Reyes, she wasn’t sure what to expect to be honest. She took Michael’s advice and stopped pushing Rich away. When he wanted to sit with the squad at lunch of joined them for a group activity after school she didn’t glare at him or make him leave like he thought she would. She simply kept to herself, distracting herself with her two best friends and the rest of the group. She had grown quite fond of Brooke and Jeremy in the past few weeks and pretty soon, she almost didn’t notice Rich when he joined the group for things.

He wasn’t quite sure how to feel about this. After all, he was happy that she wasn’t as offended by his prescence anymore but he had to admit he missed her. Every once in a while he’d cast longing glances her way that everyone noticed but the girl herself. He wanted to reach out again, but he was afraid she’d snap if he did. So he stayed silent and tried to occupy himself with the rest of the group as she did, and for the most part the rest of them were able to distract him.

As soon as theater camp came though it put a test to that. The group all drove together, Jeremy, Christine, Michael, Abigail and Rich in one car (Michael’s iconic PT Cruiser that everyone has come to love), and Jake, Chloe, Jenna and Brooke all rode in Jake’s truck behind.

Rich had wanted to join the second group but there were only two seats up front, and Chloe had quickly claimed it, insisting on being the passenger princess. Rich quickly claimed he could ride in the back with Jenna and Brooke, however it was a pick up and there were no seatbelts, and they were afraid he’d blow away. This idea was so funny to Abigail that, while gasping for air from laughing so hard, she told him he could ride with them. Utterly embarrassed at being made fun of yet again for his height, yet not about to offend the girl who finally seemed to be able to acknowledge his existence, he begrudgingly agreed.

Then came seating arrangements. The theater camp was only about half an hour out of town, however this proved to be more difficult than expected. Abigail and Christine weren’t trusted to drive as they were both notorious for getting so into the music that they forgot to actually drive. Michael did NOT want to sit next to Rich (his comment in the hospital still made him uncomfortable. But with how energetic Christine was there was no way she could get stuffed in the middle of the backseat. Michael then suggested Rich sit in the middle but Christine quickly protested not wanting to be seperated from Jeremy. In the end they ended up with Jeremy driving, Christine in the front, with Rich on the left in the back, Abigail in the middle, and Michael on the right.

It was an uncomfortable situation to say the least, but if it meant everyone else being happy Abi was willing to deal, deciding she’d be able to focus on the music and ignore the boy on her left. It didn’t help that the first song that came on was I’d rather be me. Instantly Abigail burst into song, as she did with every musical song, casting a quick glance at Rich at the opening line “So your best friend screwed you over” He realized as the song went along what the glance met and he shifted uncomfortably at the way she sang it. She didn’t seem mad at the moment but he was still nervous it would be triggered at any second.

The real uncomfortableness didn’t kick in however until the song Sixteen Going on Seventeen came on. Both her and Rich froze. Michael instantly noticed the girl stiffen next to him and gave her a curious look. She just gave him an uncomfortable look, unsure how to explain why a song from a classic musical could insight such a reaction from them. He simply took her hand and squeezed it, the comfort instantly causing her to relax. Rich once again noticed the action and sighed and looked out the window, stealing glances at the two’s hands every once in a while.

The next song however instantly changes everyone but the smallest’s demeanor, as Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield starts blasting in the car. Michael and Jeremy share a smile while the two girls cheer and quickly the entire car is filled with loud singing. Rich wants to join but he can’t help but be taken aback by how much he related to the song. While the rest of them were jokingly nudging each other and making faces at the lyrics that were funny to them he was mournfully going over each line.

He could feel it intensifying as the two next to him sang it gleefully, their comfortableness with each other and not caring how close they were sitting to each other and singing it in each others faces. He could feel the chemistry radiating off of them, something that they had once had.

When they arrived at the campgrounds Rich was the first to leave the car, tired of watching as the rest of them, especially Abigail and Michael, enjoying each others company while he felt so left out, making a beeline for Jake’s truck that had been following right behind them.

When they hopped out Abigail quickly hopped on Michael’s back jokingly. He let out a yelp of surprise before catching her and adjusting her so she was sitting comfortably on his back and continued carrying her piggyback around the parking lot. Christine and Jeremy couldn’t help but share a small smile after glancing at the two.

“Where to?” Michael asks pausing by the group not bothering to put the girl down.

Jeremy fidgets with the pamphlet but not before Mr. Reyes comes strolling out in the most outrageous shakespearean looking outfit possible, strutting down the gravel parking lot. “My pupils! Welcome!”

They all stare at the man. “Mr. Reyes?” Jeremy asks staring at him like he’s an insane person.

He’s speaking in a sad British accent trying and failing to sound sophisticated. “Why yes, my dear class, you see before you is our magnificant theater camp!”

They all stare at the camp and their faces fall. “It’s… a rest stop.” Abi says staring at the fly ridden building.

“Correction: It WAS a rest stop. Now it is Christopher Reyes’s fantabulous theater organization for budding actors…. Such as myself.” Mr. Reyes says with a sweeping arm motion.

They blink at him. “Uh… okay?” Michael says still holding his friend on his back.

Chloe speaks up an utterly disgusted look on her face. “Excuse me? Are those… Cabins?”

Mr. Reyes “Yes, temporary rooming situations until our sponsors get back to us for our suites.”

Abi leans down and whispers in Michaels ear “Basically, he’s broke and that’s all he could afford.” He chuckles quietly.

Chloe shakes her head “No… that’s not gonna work for me. I’m gonna need a suite. With running water. And a vanity and-.”

Jake laughs “Come on Chlo, this is camp what did you expect?”

Rich cackles “Yeah, were you hoping for the princess academy?”

The others chuckle quietly while Chloe huffs in offense. Mr. Reyes clears his throat. “Perhaps you should all grab your bags and get settled. I assume you all can read?” The students nod in confusion. “Alright, then you can direct yourselves to your respective cabins.”

And with that he leaves to go munch on his precious hot pocket. They grab their bags and head to their cabins, which are bug and mosquito infested, and only have four bunks each, leaving two of the girls to have to share (Christine and Abigail volunteered as tribute). Chloe never stopped complaining, and when she saw that the bathrooms had no running water she shrieked so loud that the birds and bugs ran for cover.

This is gonna be fun.

@EmChip2022 @LavaLampArtist I know I’ve had a similar post like this before but I was just hit with a sudden burst of love and appreciation for the writer that wrote her character. There are so many classic girl next door love interests, whether it be Zoe Murphy, even Elphaba, they may not have to be the damsel in distress but they they are beautiful none-the-less and usually smart and have some outstanding quality that makes boys wanna fall at their feet. Girls like that can make people like me feel self-conscious. People like me don’t have a particular talent or good looks and maybe they’re not that bright, and the fact that it’s always those girls that gain the guys attention. It can definitely lower confidence.

And then there’s Christine Canigula. Gosh I love Christine. She’s beautiful no doubt but she’s also a DORK. She’s slightly insane, she’s a theater nerd, she flipping picks her wedgies in public, and you know what? Jeremy Heere, and even Jake Dillenger adore her! She’s living proof we don’t need to be the classic beautiful girl next door type to get the guy/girl/person that’s caught your eye! And if you have to change yourself to win them over theyre not worth it.

Christine Canigula is the one girl who makes me look up at the cielings at night and instead of going “omg I made a fool out of myself today and did a random high kick in the middle of a gas station and I twirled after dropping a persons food off at work. Why am I so weird? I hate myself.” And instead I remember her and go “somewhere out there there’s someone who would see that and think wow that’s the girl of my dreams”. Now I’m not saying I still don’t lay in bed at night and think those things. But now I can look at Christine and remember, you don’t have to be cool and mysterious to be amazing and loved. You can be a little insane. Be you. And someday you’re gonna find that person. The one that thinks that if you do a random high kick during a ramble about Be More Chill, it would be the most attractive thing they saw all day.

Stay weird guys. And the next time you do something a little strange in public remember, Christine would be so proud of me. And you know what? So would I. Sending love y’all. 🥰❤️

GUESS WHO JUST FOUND OUT THEY’RE DRIVING TO NEW YORK ON SATURDAY OH MY FLIPPING GOSH I’M SO EXCITED!!!!! It’s a two day drive from where I live, so the good news is as long as I don’t get to motion sick I’ll probably get a ton of writing for the fanfic done then XD We’re going to see broadway but not to see a musical (unfortunately) we’re gonna see the blue man group, which honestly isn’t as cool but considering I had resigned myself to never get to see broadway at all in my lifetime I’ll take what I can flipping get-

To keep it in topic so I don’t get in trouble here’s a debate question: Who do you think would be the first to visit New York from the SQUIP Squad and why?

I think Christine would REALLLY want to because of broadway, but Jake probably went for his parents money laundering business trips at some point XD

Oooooh now I want to make a one shot of Jeremy surprising Christine with tickets for a broadway show…… I might do that actually. Sorry guys thanks for dealing with my ADHD brain for this post XD

Hey! So, as yall know Mr. Reyes has an art camp and (spoiler alert!) they’re going to preforming the masterpiece Dear Evan Hansen. Normally I wouldn’t share this info ahead of time but I’m running into a casting issue. Basically I have two options:

1. Make Jeremy Evan, Christine Zoey, Rich Jared and Abi Alana

The reason I’m really considering this one is because I believe that when it comes to being in character, Christine is definitely Mr. Reyes favorite and would probably end up being cast as the lead. Plus Rich is literally Jared Kleinman change my mind XD.

2. Make Rich Evan, Abi Zoey, Jeremy Jared, and Christine Alana

Okay so I’m kinda leaning towards this one for multiple reasons. The biggest one is the fangirl in me is living for the easter eggs. Gerard played Evan once and we all know the beloved OG Jared Kleinman was Will Roland himself. Plus it could be good development in the story for Rich and Abi. However, whether or not Mr. Reyes would genuinely choose this for the casting is kinda bothering me I’m not sure if this is how it would play out…

Idk help me out guys, should I go option #1 or #2 and why?

• Despite the Junior year disaster for some reason everyone came back to drama club the next year.

• In fact the cast size nearly quadrupled because so many people wanted in on the action.

• Despite this Mr. Reyes had a very clear view of how things would go

• After all do you think this is a fair drama teacher who goes off of auditions with no bias? HA!

• Christine gets the lead. It goes without saying. She’s the one with the most passion and everyone knows she’s Mr. Reyes favorite

• Jake usually gets the charming love interest which drives Jeremy insane but the SQUIP wasn’t wrong when he said his charm was non-existent.

• Plus Mr. Reyes still has a grudge against Jeremy so…

• Jeremy usually ends up either the sidekick or the lovesick third wheel that usually gets rejected (like Boq in Wicked, or worse, the Phantom of the Opera. Christine thought the phantom was cute but Jeremy was still salty he was cast as the rejected stalker and Jake was the good guy-)

• Michael, despite having the talent and love for theater, is a shy bean and is perfectly content working lights and sound.

• Rich, every loyal to his unreciprocated crush, also works behind the scenes.

• The word “works” is used flexibly here, as he doesn’t actually work. He mostly just leans on props and tries to use bad pick-up lines to woo Michael while Michael is actually trying to get stuff done.

• Chloe is usually the female antagonist, whoever that might be, Whether it be as Carlotta in POTO or (ironically) Regina George in Mean Girls. She does a great job at portraying the cocky, stuck up popular girl (I wonder why 🤔)

• Brooke, when she’s not playing Chloe’s henchmen, is usually working behind the scenes as well. She loves building and painting props, and helping Jenna sew the outfits.

• Her and Christine also bake goodies for the cast. They get LOTS of cookies.

• Jenna is an amazing vocalist and while she does also enjoy working on set, Mr. Reyes refuses to let her vocal talents be wasted.

• The one time Christine didn’t get the main role was in Wicked, Jenna was cast as Elphaba, Mr. Reyes deciding to be a nice non-biased teacher for once and assigning the best vocalist as Elphaba.

• Of course Christine was Galinda do you even have to ask?

• Jenna also makes an amazing henchmen to Chloe’s stuck up rich girl vibes.

• Im telling you Mean Girls was iconic with Chloe as Regina, Brooke as Karen, and Jenna as Gretchen was ICONIC.

• Christine was an amazing Cady Heron but let’s face it, those two outshined her with ease.

• Christine made up for it as a flawless Eliza Hamilton though.

• Forgetting lines unfortunately happened a lot- causing the most pain to Michael who was constantly standing from the sidelines as they butchered his favorite masterpieces.

• He felt like nearly crying when Jake totally bombed my shot.

• The only reason he didnt is because Jeremy made a flawless King George lll.

• Watching his best friend sing with a straight face “da da da da da dadadada diya da” cracked him up.

• Jenna was an amazing Angelica, her first performance where she didn’t sound straight out of a low-nonexistant budget school play.

• Rich would never admit it but he cried during Quiet Uptown.

• Rich was James Reynolds… it was scary how well he played that role.

• All in all everyone loved drama club. No matter how many mediocre performances they had.

(I’m including my OC in these just cuzzzzz idk I felt like it 😂 hope you don’t mind.)

• Okay so let’s get one thing straight, Abigail is controlling the music. No one else can touch it.

• Christine is totally good with it because after all they’re besties and their music taste is basically the same.

• The guys (Michael, Rich and Jeremy) all complain about it but they honestly don’t mind.

• Jeremy is driving with Christine in the passenger who is overly hyper throughout the entire ride (minus the brief four hour stretch where she totally crashes)

• Abi is in the back between Rich and Michael, the latter grateful for some sort of barrier since Rich tends to be a bit too touchy for his taste. Abi is honestly just used to it.

• Christine and Abi duet every musical song except for the romance ones (especially as long as your mine from wicked) because those she saves for Jeremy)

• Jeremy and Christine are gushy as heck for the whole ride 1000%

• Rich complains about it

• Abi slaps him in the shoulder for it.

• Christine and Rich fangirl over musicals together, specifically Six and Hamilton.

• Michael lives for the P@TD songs

• Rich is that one dude who always needs to use the bathroom (shouldn’t drink so much for a small guy 🙄😂)

• Michael is the one who ends up putting his headphones an hour into the ride (and Abi is the one who smacks them off after he uses them for an hour)

• Christine is the one always asking for snacks

• Jeremy is banging his head on the steering wheel three hours in

• Hes also about ready to throw up within two hours

• By the time they get to their destination they can barely walk to their rooms out of exhaustion

• Especially Jeremy someone carry this poor boy please- he’s bout to fall into the pool-

• “There is no way in hell I’m driving for the ride home”

• Spoiler alert: Jeremy drives for the ride home.

(Bare with me guys this is the first x OC story I’ve posted online and I guarantee you it’s not the best I’ve written so I apologize in advance. This one is mostly a little background on his and my OC’s (Abigail Hensley) relationship, there will be a part 2. Once again I apologize it’s not my best work 😭 @LavaLampArtist )

TW: Mention of a fatal car accident, and suicidal thoughts

Abigail stared down at the boy that laid before her. She had seen him in a lot of horrible spots before, but this was by far the scariest. Wrapped in bandages and connected to a monitor, what wasn’t covered of his face looked nearly dead. The doctors weren’t sure when he’d wake up.

She was the only one who visited him. No one else at the school was allowed to visit, his father was too busy getting drunk or just angry at him to come, and his brother was away at college. The nurse saw the distraught look on the girls face when she got there, and since she was the only one there who could provide solid evidence that they were friends he let her come in. So she did, everyday. She’d do homework there and when she was done she’d sing him songs she had written to him.

She never thought she’d be here. In a hospital. Staring down Rich Goranski, the boy who broke her heart. She hadn’t had a real conversation with him since he had first gotten his SQUIP, but before then they were inseparable. Neither had any friends at the beginning of freshmen year and so they sat at the same loner table on opposite sides for a week, before Abigail finally got the guts to casually sit in front of him. He awkwardly struck up conversation with her and they hit it off. For the next year they were never apart. She calmed his suicidal thoughts and dealt with his insecurities, and he comforted her when her Mom passed away in a fatal car crash leaving her with her older sister as her guardian.

Then he just stopped talking to her.

Abigail replays the memory in her head of the first day Rich ghosted her, after he didn’t respond to any of her texts she had gotten concerned. So she drove over to his place and knocked on the door, only for a half drunk Mr. Goranski to open it.

Rich’s father always creeped her out, and Rich couldn’t blame her. He had always taken a… special interest in Abigail and for this reason Rich kept her far away from him.

“Hey sweetheart what are you doing here?” The ugly forty year old man slurred.

Abigail instantly became uncomfortable “Um- I was looking for Rich?”

The smirk on the awful man’s lips quickly became a scowl. “He told me he was going to visit you.”

Crap. Me and my big mouth. She had thought. She knew he’d only lie if necessary, so she quickly covered over his tracks. “Oh right! I’m so sorry, I misunderstood, I thought he wanted me to come to his- my bad sir. Have a good day.” And with that she scurried off, spamming Rich’s phone with angry and texts and voicemails about how he forced her to face his perverted father. Yet all 52 missed texts and 28 voicemails were ignored. She didn’t hear from him or see him again until two weeks later when Sophmore year started.

She didn’t even recognize him. He had a new haircut, wore new clothes, he almost looked taller even. She wouldn’t have known it was him had he not crashed straight into her in the hallway. “Hey watch where you’re going tall-“

“Rich?!” She had interupted him. She recognized his face instantly. His eyes were angry but unmistakable.

“Oh. Hi Abigail.” Was the only response he gave before looking her up and down.

She shifted uncomfortably, she couldn’t remember the last time he called her by her full name instead of the nickname he had affectionately given her a year ago. “What happened to you? Where have you been! I was worried- what happened to your lisp?”

Rich was about to respond when a jock that she had recognized as Jake Dillinger came and patted him on the back, “Come on new kid let’s go!” She watched in hurt astonishment as Rich nodded to her curtly and left with the tall playboy.

A few weeks later he finally pulled her aside and talked to her. He explained how he got the SQUIP to make him cool and even offered her one, using the reasoning that if she had one too they could be popular together. She rejected it firmly, horrified he would do such a thing. She was happy with how things were. Ever since then she avoided him like the plague.

Half way through Sophmore year Abigail met Christine and the two quickly became friends, bonding over theater and feminism. As far as everyone knew, Abigail hated Rich, and only he (and Christine as she had confided in her what happened) really knew why. Despite this Rich still flirted with her openly. Constantly using annoying pick up lines that only made her uncomfortable, and asking her out despite the fact that the answer was always no.

This frusterated Rich greatly. After all the only reason he got the SQUIP in the first place was to impress her. He didn’t realize she already liked him like that the way he was.

Yet despite all this when she got the news of the fire, despite having ignored him for over a year now, she dropped what she was doing (which just so happened to be repairing a broken down PT Cruiser for a friend she met at the party) and dashed to the hospital.

Now all the feelings she’d pushed back poured at now as she sang a song she had dedicated to him so long ago, and she sang it to him everytime he was at his worst and ready to end it all. It always helped.

The song trailed off as Abigail wiped tears from her eyes. All emotions she had previously pushed down had come rushing back. But just as she was about to leave to get ahold of herself a weak voice came from the bed. “Abi?”

Her head snapped around so fast Rich nearly jumped. “Rich?!”

He groans in pain and shifts uncomfortably trying to sit up before sliding back down “Nope it’th the tooth fairy.”

And just like that, he was back.

I was never really interested in guys

I spent a lot of time playing by myself.

And then suddenly, playtime ended,

And I got to see everything.

Feel something new,

But it didn’t last very long.

In seventh grade I met a guy.

He wasn’t really the kinda guy I liked.

Then Junior year hit.

And he changed.

He suddenly became the kinda boy I liked

He acted differently.

He became a boy I really really liked.

So I told a friend of mine.

He was excited for me, I think.

Cuz he sang with me.

About the guy I really really liked.

I was super excited to tell him!

Tell him I really really liked him!!

And when I told him!!!

He said to me,

That I’m a girl

He really

Really

Liked.

“I can’t believe you’re making me do this. I HATE theater.” Michael grumbles as Jeremy drags him down the hallway to the theater room.

”Dude it’s not like I’m making you sing or anything you’re just doing the lights!” Jeremy groans. This is the 500th time Michael has complained about Jeremy convincing him to join the theater club. Honestly he’s usually so cool about everything, what does he have against theater club that he’s complaining this much?

Michael continues to grumble all the way down the hallway until finally they get to the theater room, where he finds a seat and slouches down into it, looking like a pouty two year old at a doctors office.

Jeremy rolls his eyes and beelines towards Christine, who is fangirling over something with Jenna Rolan. As soon as Christine catches sight of him she squeals and crushes him in a hug. As much as Michael wants to pout, he has to admit, his best friend and Christine make an adorable couple, and watching them together is making him begrudgingly cheer up a tad.

Mr. Reyes walks in soon after with a hot pocket in hand, instructing the class to take a seat, which reminds Michael he’s supposed to not be enjoying this. He resumes his grouchy slouchy position, as Christine and Jeremy take a seat next to him.

”So class, since last years zombie Shakespeare play was… less than successful.” Mr. Reyes gives a pointed look at Jeremy who slinks down in his seat. “I have decided this year we are doing a musical.”

Oh no… Michael groans both on the inside and outside. Jeremy shoots him a glare, although not knowing that his displeasure with this idea isn’t because of his lack of appreciation for musicals.

”So I hearby announce we are going to be doing the Phantom of the Opera.” Mr Reyes says in a muffled voice through his hot pocket. “It will be perfect for our class considering our leading lady is Christine.”

Christine smiles widely. Mr. Reyes didn’t even try hiding the fact she had gotten the part. It’s obvious she would, and why would he put that much effort to hiding it anyway.

”The characters that will be cast are as follows, Erik (or the phantom), Raoul, Carlo-“

”actually it’s pronounced Ra-ool not Rowl.” Michael says. The inner nerd in him bothering him til he said something.

Everyones head snaps to him, jaws dropped. He looks back at them. “What?” He says utter confusion crossing his face.

”dude that was such a theater geek thing to say.” Jeremy says before bursting out laughing.

Michaels face burns a bright red. Great. This is exactly why he didn’t want to go to theater class. He knew he’d say something and Jeremy would know how much of a theater nerd he was and make fun of him for the rest of his life.

Christine on the other hand was squealing. She practically shoves Jeremy out of his seat so she can sit next to Michael. (Which wasn’t hard since Jeremy was laughing so hard he was doubled over trying to breathe again)

”You like musicals?” She squeals Michael looks around at all the other students incredibly embarrassed.

”well um-“ Then he remembers something. Scientists have found that humanity has stopped evolving. There has never been a better time to be a loser.

Or a theater kid.

”Yeah!” He blurts out, causing everyone to jump at the sudden loud confidence. He tones it down a bit before repeating and nodding.

Christines face is brighter than the sun, as she’s off like a shot talking about all the musicals she loves, and Michael chimes in every once and a while.

The rest of the class watches the two like they are some strange aliens that came in to school. Mr. Reyes tried interrupting them but gave up after the first try and went to get another hot pocket. And Jeremy has now stopped laughing to watch with regret as he realizes that now those two are going to inseparable.

And he’s right. That’s what happens when you laugh at theater kids Jeremy. I suggest you go and study up on your Six and Wicked songs because otherwise you’re going to be the third wheel pretty soon.

(ngl I wrote this in kind of a rush and I haven’t even read through it yet, I’ll prob edit it later. Sorry if the characters are OOC, like I said I was kinda in a rush. Give feedback please, I could use it :) )
